We draw inspiration from the Ancients—how they lived in harmony with nature and shaped their environments with intention. We observe the sun and its path across the sky in every season. We study the ocean’s salt spray, the texture of each grain of sand, the gentle and sometimes forceful sweep of the wind, and the softening touch of rain. Every home we design is oriented and crafted in response to these natural elements.

The Italians have a principle called villeggiatura—the notion of settling into a place for an extended period with the sole purpose of rest, rejuvenation, and pleasure. At & The Associates Studio, we embrace villeggiatura as a guiding philosophy. It shapes our spatial narrative, inviting one to enter through a secluded garden and welcoming courtyard, move gracefully through the home, and transition to a rear loggia or terrace that opens onto a carefully framed pastoral view.

When poorly executed, a home becomes merely a structure placed on a lawn. When done well, villeggiatura becomes the reason one is irresistibly drawn outdoors—connected to sunrise, sunset, and the rhythm of the land.
